What type of Accommodations are available?

Is there internet access?
Wireless access is available but becomes spotty the further from the Camp Office you get. The main buildings (Office, Lecture Hall, Dining Hall) all have great reception.
Do cell phones work at camp?
Cell phone coverage is spotty due to the Adirondack Mountain terrain. While you should not expect cell service, you may receive texts or voicemail. Wi-Fi Assist calling can be used for those that have that feature available on their mobile phone.
Do you have a swimming pool?
Camp Shoshanah does not have a swimming pool. We do have Trout Pond, which has a small beach and roped off area to swim.
What other recreational activities are there?
Camp Shoshanah has a host of recreational activities available: hiking, swimming, kayaks, soccer, volleyball, horseshoes, Gaga Ball, children’s playground, basketball, Israeli folk dance, prayer groups, board games, movies, talent night, “Stump the Frucht”.
What is a dress code for camp?
Our standards for dress and appearance are about honoring biblical principles of modesty and provide guidelines appropriate for a family, G-d centered camp. All clothing must be modest and in good taste. Therefore, the following dress code is to be observed by everyone (attendees/teachers/instructors/management/staff/volunteers/visitors):
- Clothing should not be excessively short or revealing. Skirts/dresses/shorts should fall mid-thigh and/or below your fingertips when standing straight with your arms at your sides; midriff and underwear should not show, leggings/tights should have a skirt, dress or shirt over top that falls mid-thigh, and shirts should not be low-cut and should have modest straps (minimum of 3 fingers-width). Pants are not to drag on the ground, sag below the hips, and should have no holes, rips or tears in them.
- Clothing shall not have slogans that are inconsistent with biblical values. This means no t-shirts, caps, socks, accessories, etc. that promote alcohol, tobacco products, profanity, sexual references, or drugs. Likewise, clothing that includes inappropriate language or depicts inappropriate activities is not permitted. Clothing should not have pictures or words on the buttocks.
- Clothing must be gender appropriate.
- Swimwear is allowed at the beach only.
- Female: Two-piece swimsuits, including backless tankinis, as well as one-piece swimsuits with revealing cut-outs are not
- Male: Speedos, jammers, competition athletic-style swim trunks, or compression shorts/briefs may not be worn as swimsuits.
- Shoes: Bare feet are not allowed except at the beachfront. Shoes are mandatory in academic buildings (Haynie Lecture Hall & Youth Program) and the Starks Dining Hall at all times. The only exception is during participation in worship dance.
- Any clothes that compromise personal modesty will not be permitted. Ariel Ministries and Camp Shoshanah Management reserve the right to ask anybody, at any time, to go change for any reason.
- Bring at least one nice outfit for the erev Shabbat service held every Friday, no jeans allowed.
Can I bring my pet?
We do not allow pets at Camp Shoshanah. We have a variety of wildlife due to our location in the Adirondack Mountains, including bears, coyotes, skunks, fish and porcupines which make camp unsuitable for your furry friends. Exception: if you travel in your RV (certain restrictions apply, please contact the Camp Office at 518-834-6057 for more information) or if you have a Certified Guide Animal, with the proper paperwork and vaccination records provided to camp prior to your arrival.
Are there beach chairs?
The beach has a handful of beach chairs available.
Are there beach towels?
There are towels supplied for room use, if you travel by air/bus/train. Please bring your own beach towel for beach use.
Do you have fishing gear?
Fishing gear is not available to lend or rent. You must bring your own and purchase a NYS fishing license (adults 16+). The license is available by visiting any NY Walmart location or online at: https://www.ny.gov/services/get-freshwater-fishing-license.
What does the Shoshanah Shuk (camp store) have?
The camp store offers apparel, ice cream, snacks, drinks, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, laundry supplies and other sundries. We also sell basic first-aid supplies. Please bring ALL over-the-counter medications with you.

What are the rules concerning food?
Diet Restrictions - Mealtime is a time to relax, fellowship and have some good food. Camp Shoshanah strives to provide good tasting food and lots of it. We do our best to serve enough variety of food to cover most dietary needs. With that being said, we do not provide special diet restrictive meals, private food storage and attendees are not allowed to use the kitchen facilities to prepare their own meals.
Camp does offer a guest refrigerator in the dining room for those with special medical dietary needs and to store medicine.
